Our Music Boutique is under construction... but in the meantime...

Please visit our CDBaby page at http://store.cdbaby.com/cd/melissasweet where you can download or just sample the music from Songs to the Divine.  And please take a moment to review the songs there!  If you like singing along with us, you can read the lyrics to each song, shown below.

You can also find Songs to the Divine on iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, Amazon, YouTube, and all your favorite music and download sites... spread the word!  Search for "sweet soul music melissa sweet" and you should find us.

We consider music one of the most direct conduits to spiritual experience, a powerful aspect of creation and one of the few that immediately draws the mind to focus, the body to attune, and the heart to respond.  You may find Melissa to be a bit preachy, as we have, but this is due to nearly a half century of yoga practice, meditation, and spiritual songwriting, all of which have opened new awareness of Spirit's play in the world.  Sweet Soul Music wants to facilitate this play and reflect Truth, Beauty, Goodness.  Join us in making music meant as an offering!

On Songs to the Divine, we intentionally left a few imperfections in the recordings, things like the occasional off note or guitar buzz. We can hear them if we listen closely, but we also felt that this kept the music authentic as these parts were recorded "in the now" and have shakti of their own. We hope you enjoy it all nonetheless!

Guitar Playing

Sing!

Everyone can sing, even if it's internally, and there are proven health benefits to singing. Sing to the Divine with joy, alone or with others, and change the world one true note at a time! (Chanting is quite different from singing.)

Children Playing Bongo Drums

Dance!

Shiva dances to create, maintain, and dissolve the universe. We dance as a celebration of spirit in motion: gently moving the body almost as yoga asanas, joining breath and mind focus with rhythm — meditation in motion!

Piano Keys

Play!

Join in the music of the spheres! If you play an instrument, do it with joy and as an offering. Or pick up a drum, some chingers, or just clap your hands to keep in time with the rhythm of life, a great way to focus the mind!

Lyrics from Songs to the Divine

Deep Blue Sky

Deep blue sky, deep blue ocean, here in the fading light,

Half on shore, half in water, neither day nor night.

Where the sky runs down to meet the water let Your wave wash over me.

Wading deeper, deeper in Your ocean, wash me away and carry me out to sea.

My Heart Sings in Delight

Mother claps, Mother dances to the song of the trees being strummed by the breeze,

And my heart sings in delight.

Mother's smile, Mother's laughter, Mother's joy and Her mirth fill the sky and the earth,

And my heart sings in delight.

In the dark of night She calls to me, and my soul goes soaring to the sky.

And as She draws aside Her veil I see Her smile so sweet, Her eyes so deep...

Jaya Gurudeva

By the light of the moon brightly shining on the water,

By the light of the moon you are revealed to my eyes.

Jaya Gurudeva, jaya Gurudeva, jaya Gurudeva, Guru jai.

In the mist on the hill, glowing softly in the moonlight,

In the mist on the hill I feel your presence nearby.

Jaya Gurudeva, jaya Gurudeva, jaya Gurudeva, Guru jai.

From far beyond time you come to show me the way.

By your grace let me walk in Spirit day by day.

I follow you and my life is blessed in every way, because of you, because of you.

And now the moon in its fullness shows the path that lies before me,

And the moon in its fullness lights my way deep inside.

Jaya Gurudeva, jaya Gurudeva, jaya Gurudeva, Guru jai.

By the Grace of the Mother

By the Grace of the Mother, Her sweetness abides in me.

By the Grace of the Mother, Her sweetness abides in me.

And Her breath of life blows within me, and Her loving touch sets me free.

And Her breath of life blows within me, and Her loving touch, Her touch...

Garden of the Mother

Breezes are whispering in the garden of the Mother,

In the garden of the Mother my heart is in bloom.

Blossoms are opening in the garden of the Mother,

In the garden of the Mother beneath the full moon.

Flowers are offering their fragrance, rising up to the starry night,

And the glory that is the midnight garden is the splendor that sets my soul alight.

Om Namo Sri Gurudeva

Om namo Sri Gurudeva, Sri Gurudeva, om namo Sri Gurudeva, Sri Gurudeva.

May I ever love you, may I ever serve you,

May my heart and soul be yours forever.

Om namo Sri Gurudeva, Sri Gurudeva, om namo Sri Gurudeva, Sri Gurudeva.

May your words take root and bear the sweetest fruit,

And may I follow you through doors wide open.

Durga Dance with Me

Durga Dance with me in this heart eternally,

Durga soar with me on the wind of love.

Let my eyes see only you, every moment only You.

Be my everyday companion, let me walk with You.

Goddess of the Night

Oh Goddess of the night, who shines in golden light,

Draw back Thy veil, I plea, and show Thy face to me.

Oh Goddess of the dawn, now cast Thy gaze upon

This child who yearns for Thee and is Thine eternally.

Thou art the Mother of dark and the Mother of light,

Companion in sorrow and deepest delight.

And, here, in devotion I offer to Thee

This blossom of love, the heart of my hearts, each day of my life.

Moonlight on the Ganges

Moonlight is shining down over the Ganges, reflecting a thousand moons.

I stand on the balcony high in the music room.

Twilight has come to the temple garden, the fragrance of flowers fills the air,

And moonlight outlines it all in a silver flair.

The Ganges in murmuring, gently accompanying the service's cymbals and gongs.

The garden is swaying in time to the evening's song.

And there by the temple the Master is dancing, with arms upraised, head held high.

And tears of boundless joy freely flow from His eyes.

Moonlight is bathing the trees and the temples, a breeze is the garden's sigh,

And moonlight reflects in the tears in the Master's eyes.

A swan is sailing over the Ganges, reflecting a thousand moons,

And I watch it all from high up in the music room.

Oh Ma Kali

Oh Ma Kali, Oh Ma Kali, Oh Ma Kali, Kali devi.

Durga devi, Durga Mata devi, Durga devi, Durga devi.

Sarada devi, Sarada devi, Sarada devi , Sarada devi.
